Meet The Real Work Pilates Studio Founder

The Real Work was founded by Sophia Voutsina, a dedicated and highly experienced practitioner of Classical Pilates. Sophia is a graduate of the Pilates Centre in London, where she successfully completed both the Comprehensive and Advanced Teacher Training programmes. Her rigorous training reflects a deep commitment to the integrity and depth of the original Pilates Method as developed by Joseph Pilates.

With a passion for continual learning and refinement, Sophia has travelled extensively across Europe and the United States to deepen her understanding of the Classical Method. She has attended numerous workshops and intensive trainings led by some of the world’s most accomplished and respected Classical Pilates teachers. These include direct students and second-generation teachers such as Jay Grimes, Mejo Wiggin, Chris Robinson, and Sandy Shimoda, all of whom are known for their authenticity and dedication to preserving the original work of Joseph Pilates.

Sophia’s work continues to be enriched by her close professional relationship with Mejo Wiggin, with whom she has studied extensively over the years. Through this collaboration, Sophia now hosts The Classical Syllabus at The Real Work, an educational programme founded by Mejo Wiggin that is internationally recognised for its focus on the classical repertoire and teacher development.

In addition to teaching clients, Sophia is passionate about mentoring the next generation of Pilates instructors. She has developed her own Comprehensive Teacher Training Programme at The Real Work, combining her extensive experience, global influences, and commitment to excellence. The programme is rooted in the classical tradition and designed to support aspiring teachers in developing a deep, informed, and embodied understanding of the method.
